Whaler Seafood Specialties isn’t just one of the most unique businesses on Acushnet Avenue, it’s one of the most unique businesses in the City of New Bedford. Since 1983, from their Ave storefront location, they supply area restaurants and markets with that New England specialty – the stuffed quahog. In addition to Mild & Spicy Stuffed Quahogs, they also make Stuffed Scallops and Casinos.
They also sell to the public right from 1719 Acushnet Avenue, and during the Love The Ave & North End Restaurant Week (Sat. Sept. 21 through Sat. Sept. 28), you can pick up a dozen and take five cents off your order. And remember – you can freeze quahogs for up to six months. So, store up for the winter.
Fun Fact – Whaler Seafood makes 5,000 Quahogs a day on average. They supply Stop & Shop, Shaw’s and Trucchi’s daily from Fall River to Taunton.
