In case you missed it, Love The Ave shared the news recently that dining parklets are coming to the City of New Bedford – both downtown and on The Ave. You can read that story here.
Following up, the City of New Bedford’s Department of City Planning writes today that it “was recently awarded a large amount of State funding for site furniture and street improvements to open City Streets to the public.”
How this investment is put to use downtown and on Acushnet Avenue will be the subject of a special virtual meeting, and the Planning Department “invites members of the public and local business owners to learn more about the city’s recent MassDOT Shared Streets and Spaces grant award to adapt public spaces into ‘parklets’ along Acushnet Ave and Downtown New Bedford.”
You can register to join the meeting at this link. On the Zoom webinar, Tabitha Harkin, City Planning Director, and Anne Louro, Preservation Planner, will provide detailed visual information about the proposed streetscape changes as well as provide an opportunity for attendees to offer suggestions and ask questions.
