The Ambassador was #OnTheAve!

The former United States ambassador to Portugal, Robert Sherman visited Acushnet Avenue last week – and New Bedford Ward 2 Councilor Maria Giesta and Councilor-At-Large Ian Abreu were his tour guides.

Below is Councilor Giesta’s report on the visit, and all photos are courtesy of her, too.

“I want to thank former United States Ambassador to Portugal, Robert Sherman for coming to New Bedford on Monday, August 3 on behalf of Congressman Joseph P. Kennedy III. I also want to thank my colleague, Councilor at Large, Ian Abreu for joining me in welcoming the Ambassador to New Bedford.

We had a great lunch at Cafe Europa with Ambassador Sherman, Max German from the Kennedy Campaign, and Tony and Grace Folco from Folco Jewelers. Thank you to Peter and Sandra Ferreira and your staff for your hospitality.

We then visited with Joe Pereira and his sons Ryan and Nick at Precision Window and Kitchen – thank you for friendship. Viva Porto!!

And, of course our visit could not be completed without a visit to Chocolate com Pimenta where we had Pastéis de Nata and a Bica. Muito obrigado a família Costa.

Finally, thank you to Senhora Mendonça at Mendonça Florist Shop for meeting with me and Ambassador Sherman.”
